Professional Tips
1Don't Double Crop
If your image is already a circle, don't crop it again. Cropping a circle usually cuts off the edges. Start with a rectangle.
2Asymmetric Fun
Try rounding only the Top Left and Bottom Right corners for a dynamic, leaf-like shape that stands out.
3Match Your Brand
Check your button styles on your website. Use the same border-radius for your images to create a cohesive design system.
4Download PNG
Always ensure you download as PNG. If you accidentally convert to JPG, the transparent corners will become white or black.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are rounded corners used for?
Rounded corners soften the appearance of images, making them look more modern and friendly. They're commonly used for profile pictures, app icons, social media graphics, website thumbnails, and any design where you want a contemporary look. Sharp rectangular corners can feel harsh, while rounded corners are more inviting.
How do I make a circular profile picture?
Upload your photo, then click the 'Circle' mode button. The tool automatically crops your image into a perfect circle, fitting the smallest dimension. The result downloads as a transparent PNG, so you can place it on any background. This is perfect for social media avatars and profile pictures.
Is the background transparent?
Yes! All downloads are PNG files with transparency. The corners (or areas outside the circle) become transparent, not white. This means you can place your rounded image on any colored background, pattern, or gradient without visible corners. The checkered pattern in the preview indicates transparent areas.
What do the radius percentage values mean?
The radius percentage is relative to the image's smallest dimension. At 0%, corners are completely square. At 50%, you get a 'pill' shape (the maximum roundness before becoming circular). At 100% in circle mode, you get a perfect circle. Higher percentages create more pronounced curves.
Can I set different radii for each corner?
Yes! Click the 'Individual' toggle to unlock per-corner controls. You'll get four separate sliders for Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, and Bottom Right corners. This lets you create asymmetric designs—like only rounding the top corners or creating unique artistic effects.
Are my photos uploaded to your servers?
No, never. Rounded Corners Pro processes all images 100% locally in your web browser using the Canvas API. Your photos never leave your device, and no data is transmitted to any server. This ensures complete privacy. The tool even works offline once the page has loaded.
Can I process multiple images at once?
Yes! Our Pro version supports bulk image upload. Drag and drop multiple images or select them all at once. Use the thumbnail gallery to switch between images. Each image will use your current corner settings, and you can download them individually.
What's the difference between the presets?
'Subtle' (5%) adds barely noticeable softness—professional and understated. 'Medium' (15%) is the most common web standard—modern but not extreme. 'Large' (30%) creates obviously rounded corners—friendly and playful. 'Pill' (50%) creates maximum roundness while keeping the rectangular shape.
Will rounding corners crop my image?
The image dimensions stay the same—no cropping occurs. The corners simply become transparent. However, in Circle mode, the image IS cropped to a circle that fits the smallest dimension, which may cut off parts of rectangular images. Position your subject in the center for best results.
Why doesn't my rounded image look right on a white background?
If you're viewing the downloaded PNG on a white background, the rounded corners blend in and may look like sharp corners. The transparency IS there—try placing the image on a colored background to see the rounded effect clearly. Transparency only shows when there's contrast behind it.
Can I use these rounded images commercially?
Yes! When you edit your own images using our tool, you retain full ownership of the results. There are no licensing restrictions from our side—you're free to use your rounded images for any purpose including commercial projects, websites, apps, and marketing materials.
What file format should I use for my source image?
Any common image format works—JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF. However, the output is always PNG to preserve transparency. If your source is a large JPG photo, consider that the PNG output may be larger in file size. For web use, you can convert the result to WebP afterward if needed.
