What is the Free PSD Viewer?
Adobe Photoshop files (.PSD) are the gold standard for professional graphic design, photography editing, and digital art. However, viewing these files typically requires an expensive Adobe Creative Cloud subscription or installing heavy desktop software. Our Free PSD Viewer Online eliminates this barrier by letting you open, inspect, and export Photoshop files directly in your web browser—completely free and without installing anything.
Whether you're a developer receiving design assets from a client, a project manager reviewing mockups, or simply someone who received a PSD file and needs to see what's inside, this tool provides instant access. The viewer uses advanced WebAssembly technology to parse complex PSD structures including layer hierarchies, blending modes, and transparency—all processed locally on your device for complete privacy.
Your design files contain valuable intellectual property. Unlike cloud-based converters that upload your files to remote servers, our client-side processing ensures your PSD never leaves your computer. This makes it safe for viewing confidential designs, unreleased branding materials, or any sensitive creative work.

For smoother performance with large PSD files (100MB+), close other browser tabs to free up RAM before opening your file. If you're experiencing slow rendering, try using Chrome or Edge which typically have better memory management than other browsers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to open my PSD files here?
Yes, absolutely. This tool processes your files locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your design files are never uploaded to our servers, ensuring 100% privacy and security for your intellectual property.
Can I edit the PSD file?
Currently, this is a viewer only. You can inspect layers and export the composite image, but vector editing, text modification, or layer manipulation is not supported in this version.
What if my file is very large?
Since processing happens on your device, performance depends on your computer's RAM. Files up to 500MB usually open fine on modern computers, but very large files (1GB+) might cause the browser to slow down or crash.
What PSD features are supported?
Our viewer supports layer visibility, layer groups/folders, blending modes, opacity, and full composite rendering. Smart objects are flattened for display. Some advanced effects like 3D layers or video timelines may not render correctly.
Can I export individual layers?
Currently, you can export the full flattened composite image as PNG or JPG. Individual layer export is a feature we're considering for future updates.
Does it work on mobile devices?
Yes, the PSD Viewer is fully responsive and works on iOS and Android devices. However, for large or complex PSD files, a desktop browser with more RAM will provide a smoother experience.
Why would I use this instead of Photoshop?
This tool is perfect for quickly previewing PSD files when you don't have Photoshop installed, or when you're on a computer that doesn't have your Adobe license. It's also great for clients or developers who need to view designs without purchasing expensive software.
What export formats are available?
You can export your PSD design as PNG (with transparency preserved) or JPG (smaller file size, no transparency). Both formats are universally compatible and ready for web or print use.
Does it preserve transparency?
Yes, when you export as PNG, all transparent areas in your design are preserved perfectly. Choose JPG if you want a solid background instead.
How do I view individual layers?
After opening your PSD, the layer panel shows all layers in your file. You can click on any layer to see its properties including name, opacity, blend mode, and visibility status.
Is there a file size limit?
There's no hard limit, but browser memory constraints apply. Most users can open files up to 200-500MB without issues. For best performance with large files, close other browser tabs to free up RAM.
Can I view PSB (Large Document Format) files?
Currently, we support standard PSD files. PSB files (Photoshop's large document format for files over 2GB or 30,000 px) may not open correctly due to browser memory limitations.
